2009: A year of change

It's been long since i blogged, and i had some inspiration last night to pen down the changes in my life since the start of last year.

1) I became a fully-fledged soccer fan from someone who had totally no interest in soccer

From reading the local newspaper to hopping on soccernet and submitting soccer articles, i have truly accquainted myself with everything that has to do about soccer. I live and breathe soccer in my daily life now, except that i don't play it. Who knows, perhaps i might even write for soccer one day. That depends with my current workload though. And of course, if you know me well enough you would know that i support Manchester United FC, the Red devils.

2) Initiated and began a project based on gaming called "GameWorksSG", under the parent company Flash Gaming

This project began as a result of a conflict that happened last year in DotaSg, another local gaming website portal for local dota gamers. The preogative to start GameWorksSG was only derived out of this situation as many of my friends as well as regulars of the site had issues with DotaSg, thus they were urging me to create a new forum for everyone. Well, we did much more than that and we now have a website and forum as well as many exciting plans for the future which has yet to be implemented, but are in the works. If your a gamer and your reading this, do continue to support and follow GWSG as we embark on this journey of self-discovery about gaming and discover the passion underneath.

3) Witnessed how even the strongest of relationships can come to an end

It might not have been strong in the first place, but i'm pretty sure there was very close connection shared between two of my best friends. Too bad one of them just lost it along the way and broke it off. Unfortunate but not unprecedented. I won't elaborate further, but I would like to dedicate this blog post to both of them and sincerely wish them all the best for their future.

4) Best friends don't need to remain close forever

I realized that the best of friends need not remain close all the time, what keeps them in that status and circle is the past memories and incidents that have proven they are indeed the people who understand you the best and will be there for you wherever they are in life.

5) Life is much more complicated than many of us would like to think

At the end of last year, in fact since the end of secondary school which was a very tough time for me, i professed that i thought i already understood a lot about life, the reality of it all and how the emotional state at times wouldnt help. Some people would say that these times are inevitable and that we can't do anything to change them, but i beg to differ. We feel what we want to feel. If we are strong, we can regulate our feelings and emotions consistently, regardless of anything that happens. I've told myself to never give myself the chance to slip into that emotional mood, because i know if i do, it will deter and distract me from my work and invariably waste hours of my time. I've also learnt to reflect on life constantly in my daily life, and choose my friends wisely with careful thought and precision. In spite of everything that's happened, i somehow feel that a large chunk of my life is still incomplete, and i intend to find it for the remaining 6 months of this year.

Anyway, i've come to the end of my post. I certainly enjoyed this thinking process, did you enjoy reading it? Cheers!
