Things you need to attract the right girls

· Self confidence.

· Self esteem.

· Self respect.

· Self reliance.

· Brass balls.

· Brains enough to know when to keep your mouth shut.

· Patience to build up your skill at "reading" her with these methods.

· Strength enough to stand up for yourself and even walk away if she starts misbehaving.

2009: A year of change

It's been long since i blogged, and i had some inspiration last night to pen down the changes in my life since the start of last year.

1) I became a fully-fledged soccer fan from someone who had totally no interest in soccer

From reading the local newspaper to hopping on soccernet and submitting soccer articles, i have truly accquainted myself with everything that has to do about soccer. I live and breathe soccer in my daily life now, except that i don't play it. Who knows, perhaps i might even write for soccer one day. That depends with my current workload though. And of course, if you know me well enough you would know that i support Manchester United FC, the Red devils.

2) Initiated and began a project based on gaming called "GameWorksSG", under the parent company Flash Gaming

This project began as a result of a conflict that happened last year in DotaSg, another local gaming website portal for local dota gamers. The preogative to start GameWorksSG was only derived out of this situation as many of my friends as well as regulars of the site had issues with DotaSg, thus they were urging me to create a new forum for everyone. Well, we did much more than that and we now have a website and forum as well as many exciting plans for the future which has yet to be implemented, but are in the works. If your a gamer and your reading this, do continue to support and follow GWSG as we embark on this journey of self-discovery about gaming and discover the passion underneath.

3) Witnessed how even the strongest of relationships can come to an end

It might not have been strong in the first place, but i'm pretty sure there was very close connection shared between two of my best friends. Too bad one of them just lost it along the way and broke it off. Unfortunate but not unprecedented. I won't elaborate further, but I would like to dedicate this blog post to both of them and sincerely wish them all the best for their future.

4) Best friends don't need to remain close forever

I realized that the best of friends need not remain close all the time, what keeps them in that status and circle is the past memories and incidents that have proven they are indeed the people who understand you the best and will be there for you wherever they are in life.

5) Life is much more complicated than many of us would like to think

At the end of last year, in fact since the end of secondary school which was a very tough time for me, i professed that i thought i already understood a lot about life, the reality of it all and how the emotional state at times wouldnt help. Some people would say that these times are inevitable and that we can't do anything to change them, but i beg to differ. We feel what we want to feel. If we are strong, we can regulate our feelings and emotions consistently, regardless of anything that happens. I've told myself to never give myself the chance to slip into that emotional mood, because i know if i do, it will deter and distract me from my work and invariably waste hours of my time. I've also learnt to reflect on life constantly in my daily life, and choose my friends wisely with careful thought and precision. In spite of everything that's happened, i somehow feel that a large chunk of my life is still incomplete, and i intend to find it for the remaining 6 months of this year.

Anyway, i've come to the end of my post. I certainly enjoyed this thinking process, did you enjoy reading it? Cheers!

Disappointment in Rome

The Champions of Europe: A distant dream not to be

Now I finally know what it means to support a football team. It means to support them even when they lose, in a cup final as important as the Champions League. The heartbreak simply breaks the heart, in all ways imaginable like how Barcelona tore them apart, the team that i have grown to idolize and love over the past year. Players whose names appeared on the scoresheets so regularly failed to deliver this morning, and success which is so often associated with Manchester United, simply did not arrive anywhere near our doorstep tonight.

Champions on so many occasions but losing out on this all important one, hurts deeper than any other loss i have felt so far during my time in soccer. They say success is built upon the brink of failure. If that is so, i sincerely hope Manchester United bounce back next season stronger than ever, and reclaim what is rightfully ours. Until then, they will forever live in my heart with all the makings of the strongest & most passionate team the footballing world has ever seen.

Glory, glory, Man United!

Tree-climbing

Today i did something out of the ordinary, something which i usually would not attempt to do in otherwise normal circumstances.

I climbed a tree. At Bishan.

Yeah yeah, you must be thinking it's just a tree and I climbed it, so what? However, to me, the act of climbing a tree constitutes courage, resolve, and a certain dareness that most would not commit to (Just ask Hong Ping and u'll know).

If i have a picture i will upload it here, which i intend to get from hp once he finishes his game. And, what an entry to spark off a few months of hiatus from this blog of rot.

The Truth about MYM

Oh well, I had given MYM one week to solve this situation or I would go public about it but I guess they have already decided to call it quits.

There are like two MYM's out there: the one everyone thinks that MYM are and the one that MYM truly are. Unfortunately for me, I only knew the last one.

After I left GotFrag.com, I opted to join MYM, it was the best offer I had on the table and the conditions offered were very good as I would have the chance to travel to the best events across the globe.

Although my contract with MYM only began on 19th January, I decided to start working for them on the 5th, since I was really excited with the project and really wanted it to grow even though I knew I would not be paid for those days. I had also been told not to join by MYM by some people, allegedly because of the way they treated their employees; however, I thought "wow, this is MYM, one of the best and richest organisations out there, they must be wrong."

Only days after I joined, i was told that all the salaries of the ESUP's (Editorial Supervisors) would probably be reduced and that everyone at the MYM office in Copenhagen had been fired. I started fearing for my job, things were not okay and so I contacted Mercy (COO for MYM), who assured me that my salary would not be touched and stressed I was very important to the company.

Therefore, I continued doing my thing, until February 12th, when, one week before CeBIT, I asked MYM whether I would be sent to Hannover and received a negative response. I immediately asked to have my contracted terminated since I knew where this was going. I was told I would have to wait one month to be free, which seemed fair to me, despite missing one of the year's top events, the Extreme Masters.

But there was still one pending issue that needed to be addressed: my salary. My contract stipulated that I would be paid every month on the 15th but there was nothing in my bank account, nor in WC3 ESUP Perdita's.

After asking and asking and asking what was going on, we never got a straight answer on this matter, sometimes it was just "the money has been sent", others "this is an ESNation matter, not MYM," until, on the 19th (I guess), we were released from our contracts, without ESNation giving us a real answer about our money.

Up until this day, I haven't received one penny for my work at MYM, something I never imagined to be possible in an organisation that had boasted to be the richest in the business.

The truth is: the CS team's contract expired at the end of February and their situation isn't much different from mine and, by the looks of it, I guess they will join another organisation.

I doubt I will ever get what I am entitled to and this is just to prove that, as I said in my article " I fear for eSports", this is such a young and naive busines... I don't know if I will move with legal actions against ESNation, probably not, most likely because I would spend more than I could get.

I just hope that whoever reads this gets this message as a wake-up call and sees that there is still so much to change in eSports...

A long overdue entry

It's been long since i last updated, so here's an entry from my old blog about the Examined and Unexamined life.

I really don't have the luxury of friends.

"The unexamined life is not worth living"

  - Socrates

To live life to its fullest one must seek to live the examined life.

Socrates said that “the unexamined life isn’t worth living”. It is up to each one of us to decide for him/herself whether or not he/she wants to chart the course of living the examined life.

What does an examined life look like? What does an examined life feel like? What is the essential difference between an examined and an unexamined life?

The unexamined life is one in which a person accepts as truth and real all that they are told is truth and real, without question, reflection or reasoning beyond the mere words that one has passed along to them. Just as the act of going to school, in and of itself, is not an education, being told something does not make it necessarily so. Many, if not most, of the opinions we hold in our lives have been told to us by others. If we do not examine them we are then living our lives as extensions of the sources of the things that we’ve been told. There are none so blind as they who choose not to see. In order to see, you must first make sure to look.

The examined life, on the other hand, is an unfolding process. It is a journey of  always seeking more. One is not content with what appears to be true. The examined life welcomes questions; you take the time to reflect upon what is told to you; you reason and measure the relevance of each piece of information and the lesson from each life experience against one another. You seek to truly form your own opinions based upon reasoned thought and experience. Questions are the soul of the examined life.

The unexamined life holds us prisoner to illusion by keeping our essential truths hidden just a little deeper than we may ever seek to look. The examined life is lived in the spaces in between the shadows of illusion that are mistakenly referred to as “collective reality”.

Be a seeker of more.

Live and experience the examined life.

Inauguration Speech: 44th President Barack Obama

Watched the Inauguration Speech last night.

It was a very good speech, albeit abit too conceptual, focussing on concepts rather than going into strict details about what he was going to do about the Economic situation, etc. He touches on the American values, of 'Honesty, Fair play..', which as always has been the integral part of any President's traditional speech. In his speech, it was obvious that he was refuting Bush's doctrine policies and highlighting the philosophical differences between the two presidents. While Bush's reign has been largely unpopular by many standards, it still remains to be seen if Obama will be able to do what Bush could not. Many are anticipating, but the crucial point is: If Obama succeeds, he will be branded a hero. If he doesn't, he won't be blamed because the mess was created by Bush in the first place. How i would rate his speech? Eloquent, yes. Inspirational.. i will have to think about it.

While Obama's campaign was built around a message of change, i wonder if change really will happen. Even political experts have predicted that changes in paper will not be seen as soon as a year, although the methods to effect change will most certainly happen once Obama assumes office as of this moment. That said, we can only hope for the best that Obama can be the hero in this defining moment of political history. May God bless America and the world.

Xtc introductory post: Dota in the coming year

Since the advent of Dota, a Warcraft III Mod titled "Defense of the Ancients", in Starcraft as formerly "Aeons of Strifle", Dota has come a long way to establishing itself as one of the most popular and happening E-sports being played by the world today. This also means that Xtc must also be warming up to the same expectations of its own Dota division in the coming year, to match or better the previous years results.

Firstly, let me introduce myself. For those of you who have not seen me before, I go by the alias "SoloZ", which means i always believe strongly in the power of self-efficacy and independence. This doesnt mean im not a team player at heart, but I take pride in whatever work i can accomplish on my own. My primary role here will presumably cover a media writer for team Xtc and for the most part, will be covering our Dota division in greater detail. As of now the team has not been finalised and consolidated but when it is, an announcement will be made to formally introduce the members of our Dota team.

With 2009 being such an important year for Xtc, which as a rising gaming organization has come a long way to reach the pinnacle of gaming achievements in Singapore, the Dota division must of course keep up with the rest of the crowd, and commit a full-hearted attempt to even be on top of it. Last year was no doubt a fantastic year for us; with the 1st and 2nd finishes at SMM, WGT, and many more respectively. However, as 1st place finishes have been lacklustre,we will thus be working towards more first place finishes at local competitions. 2009 will undoubtedly be even better, with the newly reformed Xtc looking to compete in and dominate the numerous LAN events which will be coming up in the mid-year period, namely WCG qualifers, WGT, CAPL, and many more.

Having said that, I believe it will take all of our best efforts and dedication to fulfill the goals that we have set out to achieve. With that, lets wish Xtc a great year ahead for their various gaming divisions, and to scale legendary heights in time to come!

How To Build Muscle Definition

Learning how to build muscle definition is important to understand before you embark on a bodybuilding program.
Once you understand the basic principles of how muscles grow and work, you will be able to go on and build muscle definition.

Why Do Bodybuilders Look So Good?

Is it their extremely low body fat percentage that makes them look so amazing? Well despite the fact that good bodybuilders do have very low body fat, so do many skinny people. Of course it’s the huge amount of solid lean muscle mass that creates such an impressive site.

Learn How to Build Muscle

This leads many people to wonder how to build muscle definition in such an impressive fashion. Of course, the average person is not interested in packing on fifty pounds of muscle like a professional body builder, however, the means in which the average person will build muscle definition is basically the same as a professional body builder will with the only major difference being the fact that the average person will simply work a routine that is significantly less intensive.

How Muscles Grow

Muscles grow when they are overworked. That is to say, when you lift weights you are overloading the muscle. Because the muscle does not particularly like the idea of having to work super hard to lift the weight it grows to make the process easier. So by lifting heavy weights properly your muscles will grow.

Bear in mind, however, that the muscles do not grow while you are lifting weights. Instead, they grow while the body is at rest. So, in reality, you build muscle definition while you sleep provided that you worked out that week. Now, what needs to be understood here is that if you workout too often and do not give your body the proper rest then you will not build muscle. Instead, your muscles may actually get smaller and that is hardly the look you are going for!

So, if you workout about three or four days a week for a reasonable length of time (say one hour) and you are consistent, then you will build muscle definition. This may sound like a simple process and in a way it is, but in reality it is not so simple as it requires commitment and discipline. If you are willing to commit to this discipline then the rewards will follow.

The Necessary Steps on how to build muscle definition

There are many ways to build muscle definition and with a little intelligent weight training you will be able to build muscle mass and gain weight fast.

Before anything however, you do need to make sure that you are determined and that you have patience because the best results are not going to come to you overnight.

My Newest Craze!

That would be what i expect my ideal girlfriend to be. I'm not asking for much am i? :) She shows alot of grit and charisma in Twilight, and to me is the prettiest cast in the movie despite everyone ogling over bella. I do hope she goes far in her career and I am definitely looking forward to the next edition of the vampire series, New Moon. :D
